Thanks for stumbling onto my blog. I’m surprised that I’ve decided to make one – I’m not, generally, a fan of things such as this however, when a good friend suggested I document my photography journey I began thinking about it. After some pondering, I’ve made the decision to give it a go for two reasons:
Documenting my learning about photography and displaying images seems like a fun idea. Perhaps I will receive feedback from those whom I consider more creative and learn from their suggestions.
I hope this blog will, in addition to displaying my slightly artistic photos, allow my friends and family to see what I’ve been up to recently. I’m rather terrible at keeping up with those whom I love. Though not a substitute for a genuine conversation, I’m happy to share what I’ve been up to.
Why Photography?
I have many hobbies – too many, in fact. After having kids I realized that my hobbies are largely solo activities. Having a toddler accompany me in the wood shop with spinning blades in nearly every corner actually wasn’t a bad idea after I ran around and unplugged every tool. Accompany that by tiny nails, metal shavings, wood chips from particularly toxic wood species (Bocote), and tools shoved in unexpected places – the idea became less and less appealing. However, if the family takes a walk or goes to the zoo or the like, it’s easy for me to bring a camera along and do my hobby with them in tow (or maybe I’m the one in tow).
Given all of this, I present to you my photography blog. Enjoy!
